What is IP68 rating?

Blackview’s IP68 ruggedized smart devices are:

1. Dust-tight (IP68)

No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact (dust-tight). A vacuum must be applied. Test duration of up to 8 hours based on airflow.

2. Water Immersion capable (IP68)

At 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) depth.

What is MIL-STD-810G rating?

What is the Military Standard?

In the United States, the Military Standard (also written as MIL-STD) is enforced by the Department of Defense and maintained by the U.S. Air Force, Army, and Navy. It exists to ensure products meet specific requirements for various defense-related purposes.

Note: The MIL-STD is not only used in the Military sector but also across non-defense organizations due to the thorough test methods that validate a product’s readiness for extreme conditions.

Blackview’s ruggedized smart devices conforms with the MIL-STD-810, Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Test – which is a United States Military Standard that emphasizes tailoring an equipment’s environmental design and test limits to the conditions that it will experience throughout its service life, and establishing chamber test methods that replicate the effects of environments on the equipment rather than imitating the environments themselves. Although prepared specifically for military applications, the standard is often used for commercial products as well.

The standard’s guidance and test methods are intended to:

  • define environmental stress sequences, durations, and levels of equipment life cycles;
  • be used to develop analysis and test criteria tailored to the equipment and its environmental life cycle;
  • valuate equipment’s performance when exposed to a life cycle of environmental stresses;
  • identify deficiencies, shortcomings, and defects in equipment design, materials, manufacturing processes, packaging techniques, and maintenance methods; and
  • demonstrate compliance with contractual requirements.

What is Gorilla Glass?

Some of Blackview’s ruggedized smart devices include Gorilla Glass – which is a brand of chemically strengthened glass developed and manufactured by Corning, designed to be thin, light and damage-resistant. Their tough features are outlined below.


Gorilla® Glass 3 is not only chemically strengthened — its atomic configuration is formulated so that the glass is fundamentally tougher and more damage resistant, even before chemical strengthening. This is the unique feature of Gorilla® Glass 3. Something Corning is able to provide due to a proprietary glass composition that is better able to resist the deep scratches that cause glass to break. How tough? In lab tests, highly damage-resistant Gorilla® Glass 3 provides up to a 4x improvement in scratch resistance when compared to alternative aluminosilicate glasses.


Launched in 2016, Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 raised the bar for protection against damage from drops. In lab tests, Gorilla Glass 5 survives up to 1.2-meter, waist-high drops onto hard, rough surfaces. Alternative aluminosilicate and soda lime glasses typically fail when dropped from less than 0.8 meters. Even better, Gorilla Glass 5 also delivers up to 2x improvement in scratch performance compared to alternative aluminosilicate glass. It all adds up to a perfect combination of protection and performance for today’s mobile devices.
