Citefast is a bibliography and citation generator that is available online and for free. You can use Citefast to create citations from multiple sources including webpages, books, journals, encyclopedia entries, magazines, social media posts, blog posts, dictionary entries, video, audio, movies, lecture notes, conferences, podcasts, dissertations, newspapers, and many more. Citefast also supports numerous citation styles including APA 6, APA 7, MLA 8, Chicago and more.

As is the case with the other popular citation generation tool Mybib, Citefast also allows you to create as many bibliographies as you want. You only need to sign up to create an account. Once logged in, you can then start building your bibliography. Even the citations you generated before you registered can be added to your bibliography.

The great thing about creating bibliographies is that you get to organize and save your citations in a single place where you can  easily export to Microsoft Word or you can copy and paste them directly into your papers and academic assignments.

If you are a research student writing their dissertation or thesis, Citefast or Mybib will definitely save your life. I know how tedious a task it can be to work on citations when you are writing an extensive paper like a dissertation or a journal article.

Make sure you create a bibliography on Citefast or Mybib or on any other citation management platform and keep it updated so that when you finish writing your paper you can easily export and add your bibliography to your paper without hussle.

If you don’t create an account with Citefast, you will still be able to generate citations but if you do not visit the site on a daily basis your citations will be deleted after four days of inactivity. If you are going to use the site frequently I would recommend you register. Registration takes only a minute and is totally free.

How does Citefast work?

The way citefast works is simple and easy. No software download is required. The site works right on your browser. Visit citefast.com. Choose a citation style. For APA citations, the APA 7 is selected by default. If you want to use APA 6 make sure you select it.

Next select a source. Click on Other to access the drop-down menu with more sources. ‘Use webpage when there is no reference category that fits and the work has no parent or overarching publication (e.g. journal, blog) other than the website itself.’ Choose the one you are interested in and enter the details.

You can do the whole citation generation process manually in which case you need to enter all the information related to your source by yourself. For accuracy purposes, I always recommend the manual process. Alternatively, you can enter the URL of your source and let Citefast takes care of the rest. Make sure you check your generated citation for mistakes and errors before you save them. Do not trust the tool one hundred per cent.

How to create a title page on Citefast?

Citefast has this distinctive feature that lets you generate title pages for your papers, a feature that is lacking in Mybib. To generate a title page, click on Create Title Page button, select citation format (e.g., APA7, APA, MLA, Chicago), and type in information for Running head, Title, Author, Institution, Course, Date, and Author note. When you are done, click on ‘Create title page’.

How much does Citefast cost?

As of writing these lines, Citefast is completely free of charge but it does run ads.
