It’s been nearly three years since Meta first released Horizon Worlds in open beta, however now the company has pushed its v149 update which includes the ability to file an appeal when restrictions are placed on their profile for suspected ‘Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences’ violations.

The company’s virtual Code of Conduct specifies that users can’t do things like promote anything designed to deceive other users, things that are illegal, abusive or could lead […]

Ubisoft “disappointed” in ‘Assassin’s Creed VR’ Performance, Future VR Investments on Hold

By |February 9, 2024|

In Ubisoft’s most recent earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot said he was “disappointed” with the performance of Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR (2023) and that the company will not be increasing investment in VR right now, as it awaits further growth of the medium.

As a Quest exclusive, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR brought the franchise’s patented mix of parkour, stealth, and combat to VR for the first time. Released in November, it was well primed for strong holiday season performance on Quest 2 and the new Quest 3 headset.

During the Q&A section of the company’s Q3 2024 fiscal year earnings call, Guillemot said the VR […]

SteamVR Driver for Vision Pro Now in Development, Including VR Controller Support

By |February 9, 2024|

The developer leading the push to make PSVR 2 compatible with PC VR games says they’re working on a SteamVR driver that aims to bring unofficial SteamVR support to Vision Pro, controllers and all.

You may have heard earlier this week that independent programmer Zhuowei Zhang had installed a modified version of Wi-Fi PC streaming app ALVR on Vision Pro, which gave users the first look at SteamVR compatibility.

Now iVRy, a project dedicated to bringing SteamVR support to officially unsupported headsets such as PSVR 2, says they’re turning their gaze to Vision Pro […]

Vision Pro: What’s Real, What’s Hype and What’s Plain Dangerous

By |February 8, 2024|

Vision Pro is getting a ton of social media engagement after it launched earlier this month, which is great since people are finding out just how Apple’s first mixed reality headset can fit into their lifestyle. There’s plenty of interesting use-cases out there: some of it’s real, some of it’s hype, and some of it’s just plain dangerous.

Vision Pro is probably one of the first XR headsets out there to be a status symbol, as owning the $3,500 device pretty much means you have the sort of disposable income to also do some new and interesting things, but […]

Vive Ultimate Tracker Gets Beta Support for Third-Party PC VR Headsets

By |February 7, 2024|

HTC has released a beta for its Vive Ultimate Tracker that brings support to third-party PC VR headsets, such as PC-tethered Quest and Pico headsets, letting you do body tracking in supported apps.

Unlike previous Vive Trackers, which required SteamVR base stations, Vive Ultimate Tracker makes use of inside-out optical tracking thanks to each unit’s dual wide-FOV cameras.

At launch in November, the device was only compatible with HTC standalones Vive XR Elite and Vive Focus 3. As promised, now the company is launching beta access to OpenXR/SteamVR based PC VR headsets, like Valve Index or Quest […]

YouTube is Coming to Vision Pro Eventually, but What About Spatial Video?

By |February 7, 2024|

YouTube is one of the biggest apps not available on Vision Pro at launch. Thankfully we now we know that it’s on the way. But will it support its large existing library of spatial videos?

Not only did YouTube not have a Vision Pro app ready for launch day, the company actually went out of its way to opt-out of having its existing iPad or iPhone apps run on the device.

But according to a statement to The Verge, the company confirmed that a native Vision Pro YouTube app is “on [the] roadmap].”

While you can already watch YouTube videos on […]

By |February 7, 2024|

Yu-Gi-Oh! doesn’t have an official VR game yet, but after demoing a VR proof-of-concept of the card battler at the franchise’s 25th anniversary event in Tokyo, Japan, Konami says we may see more in the future.

SteamVR Streaming Works on Vision Pro, But Adding Controllers Will Be Difficult

By |February 6, 2024|

Vision Pro isn’t supposed to be able to play SteamVR games, although an independent software developer has been able to modify a popular Wi-Fi streaming app that could open the door to PC VR games like Half-Life: Alyx (2020) on Vision Pro—if it weren’t for the Apple’s strategic omission of tracked motion controllers.

Vision Pro can do an impressive number of things, including running over a million iOS apps along with a growing number of native visionOS apps. For all its uses as a general computing device, it’s not designed to hook to your computer to play SteamVR […]

Vision Pro Durability Tests Show Glass Has Great Shatter Resistance, But Scratches Easily

By |February 6, 2024|

Vision Pro is in the wild, which means we get to see just how durable Apple’s first mixed reality headset it. The good news: the $3,500 device is pretty drop resistant, although if it does take a tumble, don’t expect it to look brand new for long.

The drop test from ‘Apple Track’ was one of the first to toss Vision Pro straight onto the ground. The informal durability test went through a number of everyday scenarios, like bumping into walls head-first, and dropping from various heights. Check out the 10-minute video below, or continue reading to learn more.

Vision Pro Teardown Shows Balancing Act Between Cutting Edge Tech & Weighty Design

By |February 5, 2024|

Vision Pro is here, and if you were wondering what’s under the hood of Apple’s $3,500 mixed reality headset, iFixit has done another one of its patented teardowns to crack some tightly-glued seals and un-torque a billion-or-so screws.

Vision Pro was bound to be incredibly complex, what with its inclusion of eye-tracking, automatic interpupillary distance (IPD) adjustments, an outer ‘EyeSight’ display—not to mention its array of sensors, chips, etc. That’s what we already knew going in, but it’s something else once the front glass is jimmied open and everything is laid bare.

And the iFixit team had quite the time […]
