Meta today revealed its next smart glasses built in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica— Oakley Meta Glasses.

As a part of the extended collaboration, Meta and EssilorLuxottica today unveiled Oakley Meta HSTN (pronounced HOW-stuhn), the companies’ next smart glasses following the release of Ray-Ban Meta in 2023.

Pre-orders are slated to arrive on July 11th for its debut version, priced at $499: the Limited Edition Oakley Meta HSTN, which features gold accents and 24K PRIZM polarized lenses.

Eldramoor: Haven in the Mist is slated to launch a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign next week, aiming to revive the fun of recently shuttered VR MMO Orbus VR.

TDK, the Japan-based electronic component and software company, announced it’s acquired SoftEye, the US-based smart glasses hardware and software maker.

TDK calls the acquisition of SoftEye a “key milestone in the development of TDK’s contribution to the entire AI ecosystem and reinforces the business portfolio to establish a leadership position in this critical market.”

While financial terms have not been made public, a Reuters report claims the deal is worth “less than $100 million,” according to a source familiar with the matter.

Meta-owned Beat Games announced its block-slashing rhythm game Beat Saber (2019) will no longer receive updates on PSVR and PSVR 2 starting today, with multiplayer slated to go offline early next year.

The studio announced in an X post that PS4/PS5 versions of the game will no longer be updated, effective immediately, as Beat Games looks “to the future and plan[s] the next big leap for Beat Saber.”

CM Games, the studio behind the Into the Radius series, announced it’s releasing its next game UnLoop in September, bringing single-player puzzles with a unique time-looping twist.

As a spy infiltrating a remote space station, UnLoop thrusts you into a temporal phenomenon that creates a copy of yourself each loop, letting you cooperatively solve puzzles with past versions of yourself.

Using your copies, players bypass increasingly complicated door-opening challenges, spurring them to retrieve critical data from the station, and ultimately uncover the source of the mysterious time loop.

Onward (2020), the tactical mil-sim shooter from Meta-owned Downpour Interactive, got its big 2.0 update in March, bringing improved visuals and a host of new content to the game. Now, Downpour Interactive announced that Meta is shutting down the studio, effectively halting development and moving employees to sister studio Camouflaj.

Vuzix, the veteran smart glasses maker, announced it’s secured a $5 million investment from Quanta Computer, the Taiwan-based ODM and major Apple assembler.

The latest investment was the second tranche following an initial $10 million investment made by Quanta in September 2024, which included the purchase of Vuzix common stock at $1.30 per share. At the time, Vuzix anticipated a total of $20 million from Quanta.
